【摘要】:Thedatafromthistestcanbeusedtoestimatethebulkdensityofmaterialsinbinsandhoppersandformaterialhandlingapplicationssuchasfeeders.Thetestresultscanbegreatlyaffectedbythesampleselectedfortesting.Formeaningfulresultsitisnecessarytoselectarepresentativesampleoftheparticulatesolidwithrespecttomoisture(water)content,particle-sizedistributionandtemperature.Forthetestsanappropriatesizesampleshouldbeavailable,andfreshmaterialshouldbeusedforeachindividualtestspecimen.Initialbulkdensity,(x03C1;b)initial,mayormaynotbeusedastheminimumbulkdensity.Thiswilldependonthematerialbeingtested.Forexample,thetwoareoftenclosetothesameforcoarse(mostparticleslargerthanabout6mm),free-flowingbulksolids,butnotforfine,aeratablepowders.Bulkdensityvaluesmaybedependentuponthemagnitudeoftheappliedmassincrements.Traditionally,theappliedmassisdoubledforeachincrementresultinginanappliedmassincrementratioof1.Smallerthanstandardincrementratiosmaybedesirableformaterialsthatarehighlysensitivetotheappliedmassincrementratio.Anexampleofthelatterisamaterialwhosebulkdensityincreases10%ormorewitheachincreaseinappliedmass.Bulkdensityvaluesmaybedependentuponthedurationofeachappliedmass.Traditionally,thedurationisthesameforeachincrementandequalto15s.Forsomematerials,therateofcompressionissuchthatcompletecompression(nochangeinvolumewithtimeatagivenappliedcompressivestress)willrequiresignificantlymorethan15s.Note18212;Thequalityoftheresultproducedbythisstandardisdependentonthecompetenceofpersonnelperformingit,andthesuitabilityoftheequipmentandfacilitiesused.AgenciesthatmeetthecriteriaofPracticeD3740aregenerallyconsideredcapableofcompetentandobjectivetesting/sampling/inspection/etc.UsersofthisstandardarecautionedthatcompliancewithPracticeD3740doesnotinitselfassurereliableresults.Reliableresultsdependonmanyfactors;PracticeD3740providesameansofevaluatingsomeofthosefactors.PracticeD3740wasdevelopedforagenciesengagedinthetestingorinspection(orboth)ofsoilandrock.Assuchitisnottotallyapplicabletoagenciesperformingthisstandard.However,usersofthisstandardshouldrecognizethattheframeworkofPracticeD3740isappropriateforevaluatingthequalityofanagencyperformingthisstandard.Currentlythereisnoknownqualifyingnationalauthoritythatinspectsagenciesthatperformthisstandard.1.1Thistestmethodcoversanapparatusandprocedurefordeterminingarangeofbulkdensitiesofpowdersandotherbulksolidsasafunctionofcompressivestress.1.2Thistestmethodshouldbeperformedinthelaboratoryundercontrolledconditionsoftemperatureandhumidity.1.3AllobservedandcalculatedvaluesshallconformtotheguidelinesforsignificantdigitsandroundingestablishedinPracticeD6026.1.3.1Theproceduresusedtospecifyhowdataarecollected/recordedorcalculatedinthisstandardareregardedastheindustrystandard.Inaddition,theyarerepresentativeofthesignificantdigitsthatgenerallyshouldberetained.Theproceduresuseddonotconsidermaterialvariation,purposeforobtainingthedata,specialpurposestudies,oranyconsiderationsfortheuserx2019;sobjectives,anditiscommonpracticetoincreaseorreducesignificantdigitsofreporteddatatobecommensuratewiththesecon......
